Karen S. Armitage, OD

Doctor of Optometry

Dr. Karen Armitage attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont and received her Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from University of Nebraska Medical Center. She worked as a blood bank technologist for several years before receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry. She completed externships at Veterans Administration hospital in Fort Wayne, IN and at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH.

Dr. Karen, who was born and raised in North Platte, returned to Nebraska after graduation and worked for several years in commercial optometry. In 2003, she opened Clarity Eye Care.

Dr. Karen’s practice includes comprehensive eye care for all ages. She is an active participant in See To Learn, a free program for 3-year olds. She provides pre- and post-op care for cataracts and LASIK patients. Her special interests are working with children, primary eye care, ocular disease and contact lenses. She is a member of the Nebraska Optometric Association, and American Optometric Association.

Dr. Karen and her husband Doug have 2 grown children. They are active in their local church, singing in the choir and have served on various committees and church council.

Laura I. Armitage, OD, FAAO

Doctor of Optometry

Dr. Laura Armitage is a comprehensive optometrist, specializing in treatment of ocular disease, the fitting of specialty and standard contact lenses and primary eye care for all ages.

Following in her mother’s footsteps, Dr. Laura received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2018. Prior to this she attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with honors.

While in school, Dr. Laura was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society and completed four externships around the country. Her training included The Eye Institute of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT; Indianapolis Eye Care Center in Indianapolis, IN; Truhlsen Eye Institute at UNMC in Omaha, NE and The Huntington VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a distinction which demonstrates her commitment to the advancement of Optometric care.


Dr. Laura is a native of Omaha and is excited to be practicing here. She is currently a member of the Nebraska Optometric Association as well as the American Optometric Association. Dr. Laura enjoys using her education to provide eye care for underprivileged.  In 2017 she volunteered in Jamaica with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity). She also enjoys singing, hiking, photography and board games.
